bible verse

“What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs.” (Matthew 10:27)

meaning

If something is proclaimed from the rooftops, it is made as widely known and as public as possible.

origin and application

When Jesus called his twelve disciples to follow him, he gave the above instruction to his disciples on the first missionary journey. Jesus’s teachings to them are private, yet he asked the disciples to proclaim the gospel as wide and as publicly as they can.
