“No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” (Matthew 6:24) “一個人不能事奉兩個主。不是惡這個愛那個，就是重這個輕那個。你們不能又事奉神，又事奉瑪門（瑪門是財利的意思）。” （馬太福音 6:24）

一僕不能事二主，這里耶穌指的主分別是上帝和瑪門（古希伯來人對“財利”的稱謂）。耶穌曾警示信徒們，每個人同一時間只能忠于一個個體或組織，如果選擇效忠財利，那麼必定違背上帝的旨意。 現今這句話常被用在發生利益沖突的時候。舉個例子，如果某公司官員同時為若干不同的機構效力，那么他能否真正地忠于一個組織就很令人懷疑。
