Meaning

It is a form of “Berenice” which is an ancient Macedonian form of the Greek name Φερενικη (Pherenike), meaning “victory bringer”. “φερω” (phero) stands for “to bring” while “νικη” (nike) “victory”. In the New Testament, the name bearer was a sister of King Herod Agrippa II. “Veronica” is the Latin form of the name.
