Bible Verse

Genesis 4:1

Meaning

It came from the Hebrew name הֶבֶל (Hevel) or הָבֶל (Havel), meaning “breath”. According to the Old Testament, Abel was born after Cain to Adam and Eve. He kept flocks while Cain worked the soil. Out of jealousy, Cain murdered him because God looked favourably on Abel and his offerings. This is the first murder in human history.
