origin and application
Jesus was arrested by his enemies and handed over to Pilate, the governor, who asked the crowd what he should do with Jesus who called himself Christ. They all shouted, “Crucify him!” When Pilate saw that an uproar was starting, he washed his hands in front of the crowd and declared innocence of Jesus’s crucifixion.
