Bible idioms
Mote in the eye (Matthew 7:3)

bible verse
“Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
meaning
A mote is a particle of dust.
origin and application
In Jesus famous sermon delivered to his followers at Mount Beatitudes, he taught that often times people focus more on others’ faults than our own misdeeds. When we look at the mote or speck of dust in one’s eyes, we are zooming in on others’ faults without reflecting on our own.
