Bible Verse

Exodus 17:9

Meaning

It originated from the Hebrew name יְהוֹשֻׁעַ (Yehoshu’a) which stands for “God rescues” or “God is salvation”. In the Old Testament, Joshua was one of the twelve spies that Moses sent to explore Canaan. Among the Israelites led by Moses out of Egypt, Joshua and Caleb were the only ones who survived to see the Promised Land for they followed the Lord wholeheartedly. Upon Moses’ death, God appointed Joshua to lead the Israelites. Joshua in Greek means Jesus.
