Christopher

Bible Verse
Meaning
The name stemmed from the Greek words “Christos” (meaning “Chris, the anointed one”) and “phero” (meaning “to carry” or “to bear”). It was metaphorically used by early Christians to signify the vow of bearing Christ in their hearts. Later in the middle ages, there were legends about a man called Christopher, the patron saint of travellers, who carried the young Jesus across a river. Famous bearers of the name include Christopher Wren, an English architect of many of the well-known churches in London such as St. Paul’s Cathedral, and Christopher Columbus, a Genoese explorer who discovered the Americas.
